Columbine wearing a Venetian Carnival Mask as Tilting Doll

COLUMBINE (Colombina with Venice Mask), is one of the main characters of Italian commedia dell`arte performances since the 16-17 centuries. Columbine - a cheerful maid, is like a servant girl. Colombina means “Little Dove”. Her character is shown differently depending on country of performance, sometimes she is intriguing, and an opposite to Harlequin, and Pierrot, and being in love with Harlequin anyway.
